The majority of people try juice fasting because of its ability to help them quickly lose weight. Juice fasting consists of ingesting only fresh vegetable juice instead of conventional food. Since veggie juice contains an array of beneficial nutrients, juice fasting is widely encouraged and accepted over water fasting or dry fasting.

The following five tips will help you to ensure that your juice fasting experience is a good one. After all, you aren’t limiting yourself to juice just for fun—you want to see results and lose some weight!

1. Substitute each meal with a glass of freshly-juiced vegetables. Feel free to experiment with various juicing recipes and mix it up so you don’t get bored with one flavor.
2. Don’t push yourself to fast for too long. Juice fasts can go on for up to thirty days, but don’t push yourself. If you become fatigued and need to stop your fast after only three or four days, do it. The next time you participate in a juice fast, you can go for seven or eight days and work your way up.
3. Ease off the fast gradually. During your juice fast, your body has gotten used to easy-to-digest juices. As you begin eating standard meals again, it can be a shock to your digestive system. Don’t jump right in to eating sugar, white flour, or animal products right away. Start with solid veggies and fruit, then add whole wheat to your diet, and finally mix in some lean protein.
4. Stay active! Take frequent walks outside to keep your energy up. But don’t push yourself—your body can’t handle strenuous exercise during a juice fast.
5. Listen to your body. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, have a high fever, or become irregular, stop the fast immediately and transition to vegetable broth and other easy-to-digest foods.

Happy juice fasting!
