The Atkins diet is famous for the dramatic decrease of sugars. This plan must be composed almost entirely of protein and fat.
The Atkins diet is to eat unlimited meat, eggs, fish, butter during the first two weeks, then gradually reintroduce sugar in small quantities. The consumption of sugar (preferably carbohydrate) must remain limited lifetime.
According to the theory of Dr. Atkins, when the body receives more carbohydrates, it uses fat as evidenced by the increased excretion of ketones, breakdown products of fats, which would cause of weight loss.
To its detractors it is quickly monotonous diet, lack of variety in food, and weight loss is the result of a self-limiting food intake.
